William Mason is a character from Downton Abbey television series, who was a only child, who came from a loving, supportive family. He was the second footman at Downton Abbey, he was kind but wasn’t the brightest of the servants, mainly why he was bullied by first footman Thomas Barrow, who was also rude about the death of William’s mother. William becomes engaged to Daisy, and joined the army becomes valet to Captain Matthew Crawley during the first world war. During a big battle William was injured, which prooved to be fatal, which was lung failure, he was brought back to Downton to be cared for and to die slowly in the company of his family and friends. He also saved the life of Captain Matthew Crawley from taking the shell during the battle, During this time, he married Daisy in front of his father, the Crawley family and the staff of Downton before he pass away peacefully.
