Gabrielle Douglas

Gabrielle (Gabby) Christina Victoria Douglas (born 31 December 1995) to parents Timothy Douglas and Natalie Hawkins [1], is an American female artistic gymnast. She was a member of the U.S. team that won the gold medal in the team finals at the 2011 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.[2]In 2010, at the age of 14, she moved from Virginia to West Des Moines, Iowa so she could train with Liang Chow, who is the coach of 2008 Olympic balance beam champion Shawn Johnson. She lives with a host family, whose daughter also trains gymnastics at Chow’s gym.Douglas started gymnastics when she was 6 years old, after her sister Arielle convinced her mother to let her do gymnastics. Gabby went on to earn the 2004 State Championship title in Virginia. She was selected to the national team that will represent the United States at the 2012 Summer Olympics
