Bill Evers

Bill Evers (born January 29, 1954 in New Port Richey, Florida) is a former bench coach for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He received his BA in management and recreation from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1976. During his career in professional baseball, he hit 11 home runs in 274 games, walked 161 times in four years, and struck out 113 times. In 2005, he was named the Tampa Bay Devil Rays bench coach. Evers has compiled a 1,381-1,206 (.534) record, which is the second most wins among active minor league managers. He has won five minor league championships and has managed three of the Rays’ five minor league championship teams. Evers managed the Durham Bulls for eight seasons, leading the team to five South Division Titles, four Governor’s Cup Finals berths and back-to-back Championships (2003-04).
