Sharon Lawrence

Sharon Elizabeth Lawrence (born June 29, 1961) is an American actress. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, she grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The four-time Emmy nominated actress is best known for playing Sylvia Costas Sipowicz in the TV series NYPD Blue.Other television acting roles have included the hit TV shows NYPD Blue, Desperate Housewives, Monk, Law & Order: SVU, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Grey’s Anatomy. Sharon has acted in numerous films, and has appeared on Broadway in several productions. She has performed a myriad of roles on the NC Theatre stage and starred alongside Terrence Mann in the theatre’s first production, Camelot, in 1984.
