Strictly Come Dancing is a British television show, featuring celebrities with professional dance partners competing in Ballroom and Latin dances. The title of the show suggests a continuation of the long-running series Come Dancing, with an allusion to the film Strictly Ballroom. The format has been exported to 30 other countries (see Dancing with the Stars), and has also inspired a modern-dance themed spin-off Strictly Dance Fever.

The show has run on BBC One since 2004. A sixth series finished in December 2008, and there have been five stand-alone Christmas Specials - 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Series four was also shown as part of the BBC's line-up on its trial High Definition channel, BBC HD.

The final of the fourth and fifth series in December 2006 and December 2007 respectively attracted audiences of over 12 million viewers , while the 2008 final had 13 million viewers. See Less
