"Into the Groove" is a song by American singer-songwriter Madonna from the 1985 film Desperately Seeking Susan. It was featured on the 1985 re-issue of her second studio album, Like a Virgin, and released on July 23, 1985 by Sire Records as the album's fourth single outside North America. The song later was included on her 2009 greatest hits album, Celebration, and its remixed versions appeared on the 1987 remix compilation, You Can Dance, and the 1990 greatest hits compilation, The Immaculate Collection. Madonna's inspiration behind the song was the dancefloor, and she wrote it while watching a handsome Puerto Rican man, across her balcony. Initially written for her friend Mark Kamins, Madonna later decided to use it as the soundtrack of her film Desperately Seeking Susan. "Into the Groove" was recorded at Sigma Sound Studios. A remixed version, titled "Into the Hollywood Groove", was created by Madonna in 2003, featuring a rap by Missy Elliott. See Less
