Iris is the first show produced by Cirque du Soleil to be located at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, California with the planned première on September 25, 2011. Preview performances began on July 21. The cost for production of the show is US$120,000,000, and is scheduled to run for 10 years. Iris is directed by French director-choreographer Philippe Decouflé. The show takes a unique look at the history of cinema and combining that with Cirque du Soleil's traditional artistic works of dance, acrobatics, and modern circus traditions. The name of the show, Iris, is taken directly from both camera diaphragms as well as the colored iris of the human eye. See Less
