Two years ago today, Coolspotters was born.

When we launched Coolspotters, we had a simple goal — to build a community for real people, centered around their passions for fashion and popular culture. We wanted to make creating, discovering, and sharing content about your favorites products, brands, and celebrities fun and easy. We lifted the curtains on May 7, 2008.

Since launching we’ve grown from zero to over 600,000 unique users per month and over 4 million monthly pageviews. We are a fast growing, global community with users from almost every country in the world. We are one of the most active user-generated fashion sites in the world and many consider us to be to be the most definitive source for celebrity-related fashion anywhere.

We couldn’t have gotten to here without you. We’d like to thank everyone in the Coolspotters community for making the site so successful.

Along with the removal of the Beta tag, we want to announce a couple new features:

Secondly, we’ve heard you loud and clear…you want Hairstyles! So, today, we’re announcing the addition of Hairstyles (styles, colors, lengths, cuts) to Coolspotters. Some of you may have noticed that a few brands are being highlighted in unique ways on the Coolspotters front page, as well as on the individual product profiles for those brands. It’s all related to a new e-commerce partnership program that we rolled out over the last couple of days.

For an exclusive group of celeb-savvy brands, Coolspotters is offering customized commerce links, and users will now be able to purchase products directly from the brand’s own commerce site. We’re excited to be working more closely with brands that define today’s style trends and those that are becoming favorites among today’s hottest celebrities.

So, in case you were wondering why some products have a special “buy it” treatment…this is why. When you see a brand’s logo and a direct “buy it” link (as in the example to the left) then you know that you’re buying directly from the brand you love and trust.

When I heard that the new Tousle Me Softly hair products line from Herbal Essences was going to be sponsoring Coolspotters through October, I took advantage of the opportunity to give it a try. My hair is naturally straight, and it often has that “heavy look”, especially in the humid Connecticut summers, so I was definitely intrigued by something that offered to give my locks a naturally tousled look.

I tried the Tousle Me Softly Shampoo, Conditioner, Spray Gel, Mousse, and Finishing Touch Cream – on different days and in different combinations. In the end, I found my perfect mixture: After using the shampoo and conditioner, which both had a scent I couldn’t get enough of, I’d start with a light base of the Spray Gel, and then add in a few gentle dabs of the Finishing Cream. After using a curling iron to add a few light waves, I was amazed at how soft and lively my locks looked, but I contained my excitement until I could see how it would hold up after a few hours in the sun.

My newly discovered tousle lasted incredibly long, and I was able to extend the look right into the evening by adding a bit more of the Finishing Cream mid-way through the day. Even after a swim or playing in the park with a couple of lively young boys, I was amazed that I could regain a look that works as well at the office as it does at a barbecue with friends. Picture True Blood’s Anna Paquin or maybe Kate Hudson. It’s never sticky, it’s always soft, and I’d finally found a fresh style I could replicate day after day. I’m so excited that they’re joining us on Coolspotters because it’s a product that I believe in and love to use!

All eyes will be on NYC September 10th as the fashion capital of the universe hosts the very prestigious Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2009 where Spring 2010′s finest and most fabulous garments will be displayed on the runways under the tents at Bryant Park. As the fashion industry prepares for a spectacular week, we here at Coolspotters are excited and ready to see the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2009 profile page overflow with all of the shows, celebs, fashionistas, socialites and beautiful models that will be spotted all over the city. As we bundle up this F/W in our thigh high boots, textured leggings, and military jackets, it’s a thrill to get a sneak peek of what’s to come when the snow finally melts and our closets begin shaping up in April 2010.

As the fashion magic unfolds, keep an eye on the MBFW profile and check out the elite designer trends and the trendsetters alike. The Coolspotters community has already spotted a few starlets sporting resort 2010 couture. Which designs are the absolute must haves? And which will you “just say no” to? I can barely contain myself in anticipation of the Brian Reyes and 3.1 Philip Lim shows! We are sure to see many designs transition from runway to red carpet to the streets and sidewalks of Hollywood, and waiting patiently in the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue to be scooped up by the fashion obsessed.
